Foodie Adventure : Al Pastor Recipe Journey

The Goal is to make the Authentic Al Pastor Taco!

Been trying different recipe to make the Al Pastor my family will love. We usually go to this Taco Truck but because of gas price, toll and cost I decided it is time for me to figure out how to make one at home. If you're wondering how much it cost us to eat there counting everything it is almost $75 - 6 Al Pastor Taco + Al Pastor Burrito + Al Pastor Quesadilla - Really not a lot to eat but the flavor makes it worth it!

This cost me $10 to make and I think this will make at least 4x the amount we eat at the taco truck. Totally cost for the whole thing is $20 and should yield me 10x the amount.
If this is a success then I think I hit the jackpot!

After marinating for almost 12 hours I decided to give the 1st batch a try. I will see what 24 hours will do on half of my batch.
Will share the recipe once I know that my work is worth sharing.

Color and aroma wise, it seems exactly as I remember it. I am not a chef but I love recreating foods based on how I remember them, flavor wise.

Preparation is easy and the only messy part is mixing them in the marinade and to put them in the skewer.

After arranging them this way, I am off to the grill! Covered it in foil and set the grill to the lowest, sure makes me wish I have a charcoal grill or the rotating roast like they do when they make Al Pastor back in Mexico. Since I don't have it, gas grill should give me a little of the smoke flavor that I needed to make this extra special.

Planning to grill in low for 2 hours covered with foil and let it grill uncovered for another hour.

While waiting for that last hour I will make the flour tortilla, Spanish rice and prep the sides for this deliciousness (I hope that is the case)

Will post the final verdict later today! Wish me luck! Hope it is a success!
